My Philosophy
When I began my journey in Natural Medicine, I was excited about the prospect of being able to help people live healthier and happier lives. I still think it’s a fantastic thing to be able to offer.
There is so much unnecessary suffering, which can be alleviated by treatment with natural medicine. And what is also amazing is that the scientific research so often reinforces what we have been practising and teaching for so many years!
My own life has been shaped by my personal commitment to natural health care. With natural medicine as my primary health choice, I have been lucky enough to enjoy many years of good health – and hope to continue that way for years to come!
What I also love, is that this is medicine from the earth. It connects us in a very deep way to our natural environment – and reminds us that we belong to nature. And that the power to heal is intrinsic in the complex, fascinating, delicate, strong and beautiful web of life.
To become a Naturopath, I undertook four years of full-time study at the Southern School of Natural Therapies, one of the oldest naturopathic training colleges in the country – and still going strong! During this period I got plenty of on-the-job training, working as a clinic assistant for many years.
I received my training in Remedial Massage at the Melbourne School of Tactile Therapies, one of the first massage education providers in Melbourne (which has long since merged with Endeavour College of Natural Medicine). My massage skills and understanding of the body’s structure, function and energetics have been enriched, in the early years, by working as an osteopathic assistant; with the shiatsu practitioners and teachers at the Australian Shiatsu College; and for many years in my own practice, as well as by my own experience of yoga and tai chi.
There is always more to learn – and Continuing Professional Education keeps me up-to-date with the latest developments in Natural Medicine theory and practice.
I can draw on a deep well of experience and resources to help guide you on your own health journey.
